Sourcing materials responsibly

Since January 1, 2021, the EU Conflict Minerals Regulation (EU) 2017/821 has been in force. It sets out obligations for EU importers to carry out their due diligence on imports of tin, tantalum, tungsten and the ores thereof, as well as gold from high-conflict and high-risk areas. The aim of the regulation is to stop financing violence and human rights abuses in high-conflict or high-risk areas. Companies importing the minerals and metals in question into the EU are subject to extensive diligence resp. monitoring obligations along the supply chain.

Mitsubishi International GmbH imports exclusively recycled metals from Singapore and Japan into the EU within the meaning of Art. 2 letter s) of Regulation (EU) 2017/821. With reference to the resulting reporting obligation according to Art. 7 (4) of Regulation (EU) 2017/821, we hereby inform about our close contact with our third-country suppliers to ensure compliance with the due diligence obligations. Corresponding management systems for regular monitoring of suppliers have been installed.
